How to Overcome Stress ? Panacea (Stress Management)

Dear Guys,

Today, I want to share a Lesson from my alma-mater that I have gained with you in the form of a Story.

A psychologist walked around a room while teaching stress management to an audience. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they'd be asked the "half empty or half full" question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired: "How heavy is this glass of water?"

Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz.

She replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn't change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes." She continued, "The stresses and worries in life are like that glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed – incapable of doing anything."

It’s important to remember to let go of your stresses. As early in the evening as you can, put all your burdens down. Don't carry them through the evening and into the night. Remember to put the glass down!

Regards.

Innovation Universities Bill Stuck, Funds for existing Varsities only - U.G.C.

Idea of the University Grant Commission
With a Bill to set up 14 world-class innovation universities stuck in Parliament, the University Grants Commission has come up with an alternative plan — to pump in funds for innovative projects, research and governance ideas in the existing universities.
Funds ranging from Rs 25 crore to Rs 300 crore would be given by the UGC under the plan, to universities coming up with innovative ideas in higher education, be it teaching, research or organisational research. These funds cannot be used for usual infrastructure development, setting up of new departments, routine improvements in teaching, supporting professional bodies or implementation of UGC regulations.
Central and state universities that have been operating for 10 years and have 'A' level accreditation from the National Assessment & Accreditation Council will be eligible for the scheme.
"The basic objective is to promote innovative ways of learning, sharing and collectively growing within and without."
But the Indian Government is not ready to allocate that sources due to financial constraints so that will be applicable only to the existing Universities and their course curricula.
Earlier Conception of this Idea
The Bill to set up 14 innovation universities had been moved by the UPA I government but has been stuck along with several other legislations on educational reforms.

University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked the universities and its affiliated college to appoint a nodal officer to help students enrol for Aadhar card.
Quote By University Grant Commission
"It is requested that your university and each of the affiliated colleges may appoint a Nodal Officer for helping the students for Aadhar Enrolment under intimation to UGC. This needs to be taken up on high priority. You may also like to coordinate with concerned State/Central authorities engaged in Aadhar enrolment to speed up the work", the UGC circular states.
University Grant Commission also wants to link all the Fellowship Programmes /scholarship programmes to Aadhar card so that the disbursal of the scholarship would be easily transferred to the Beneficiary student's account. Post Graduation in Law (L.L.M.) in One Year - University Grant Commision

Decision (Favorable Comment) Views of the Expert Committee

After a lot of discussion and conferences, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided to introduce a one-year LLM programme in universities from academic year 2013-14. However, law professors in the city are not happy with the decision as they believe it will dilute quality of the post graduate programme.
As per the UGC website, an expert committee constituted by the UGC has submitted the guidelines for introduction of the one-year LLM programme. The programme will be introduced only in universities/ institutions with a centre for post graduate legal studies. The universities fulfilling guidelines will be allowed to conduct the one-year programme.

Main Reason for the Decision
The main reason the UGC is converting the two-year programme to a one-year course is to prevent brain drain of law students, said the principal of a reputed law college in the city."Developed countries have one-year post graduation programme. Indian students prefer to study and subsequently work there which is a major cause for worry for our country. Hence, the UGC is introducing this programme. However, reducing a year without ensuring proper infrastructure in colleges will harm students," she said.
"UGC prescribes 90 days of compulsory teaching for LLB courses. The university starts colleges in June-end and conducts exams in the first week of October following which the colleges are closed for holidays. Hence, many things prescribed by UGC remain on paper.

Preparation Towards Decision
A senior member of the UoP's law department said, "The 17 premier law schools in the country have amenities, faculty members and funds to actually convert the course into a one-year programme. But in other 1,100 state universities and colleges, it is impossible to qualitatively implement it. But if one university does it, there will be competition among all others to attract students which in turn will put additional pressure on already over burdened staff," said the official.
