  1. I think the approximation is on the higher side. The no of aspirants who could clear all individual cut off are hardly 40% of the total (not even 3 Lakhs) . In that only top 15% will qualify for the NET (Dont think even 45,000). Among the NET qualified top 10% might qualify for JRF.

Then cut off could be in the range of 68-70%.

    1. According to My views,Cut off lies between 66-67 % these have two reasons, First, Last Year it is 65 % and it must goes higher but due to the Tough side it remain lows and second the Number of appearing aspirants are high but due to 15% choice it maintain cut off low Between 66-68%,

    2. Dear Friend,

Who among us has been appeared for UGC NET Examination Dec 2012 has to stand against the new criteria of eligibility for JRF and Lectureship and there are couple of question whose correct answer optionwas not given there in management paper .

This is purely a discrimination as Net is just a qualifying then why there is a change in criteria even after Kerla HC order.

New Eligibility criteria should be fixed before submitting the application form.

Demerits of New Criteria for lectureship are as :-

      1. Aspirant who has been selected according to the new criteria would not serve in rural areas and small cities as there is no provision taken by UGC that there is a compulsory assignment for lecturer to serve rural areas . so those who have been selected with good score why they serve rural areas and small cities.
      2. Those candidates who had secured NET in the past would appear for the examination to get grants under Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). Such candidates are likely to figure in the top 15% of the merit list over and over again denying opportunity to others.
      3. If there is a new criteria then there should a age relaxation for the aspirant who preparing for exam from last few year and due to change in criteria in last minute would give a full stop on his career.

Kindly pass this message to the Net aspirant who appeared in the Dec 12 exam.

Please share your advice and suggestion.

HYDERABAD: Students are planning to challenge UGC's new National Eligibility Test (NET) guidelines for lecturer posts. University Grants Commission (UGC) recently introduced a new rule stating that only top 15% candidates in NET will be eligible for taking up teaching jobs in colleges and universities.
Till last year, any candidate who scored minimum marks was eligible for teaching posts. Students from English and Foreign Languages University (Eflu) on Sunday said they would approach court against UGC guidelines. The protesting students said that the UGC's
decision was in violation of a Kerala HC order, issued on December 17, 2012. A total of 28,000 students appeared for the NET examination from Osmania University centre on Sunday.
"In its order, the Kerala HC had clearly stated that NET was only an eligibility test and not a competitive examination. The exam is only meant to test whether the candidates are qualified to teach or do research. However, by deciding to grant NET certificates to only the top 15% candidates, UGC is denying an opportunity to others," said Mohan Dharavath, student leader, Eflu. Students said that new guidelines would do more harm than good.
"Those candidates who had secured NET in the past would appear for the examination to get grants under Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). Such candidates are likely to figure in the top 15% of the merit list over and over again denying opportunity to others," said Dharavat.
The students are planning to file a PIL within a month's time. UGC conducts NET once in every six months.

    3. I think subjects like management and commerce will have higher cut offs as compared to subjects like english/ philosophy etc. so for mostly all subjects cut off lies between 65- 70 %

      Delete
    4. My minimum eligibility in all the three papers cleared. but as per new guidelines, they consider top 15% from each category and announce the qualifying students this time. In this 15% my register number is not listed, this is not fair. Earlier exams conducted by UGC considered only minimum criteria but this time (december 2012) exam they have changed the criteria to declare result. This is not fair. How can they do for one batch one criteria and another batch different criteria for same type of exam. who controls UGC? Why government is not interfering in this matter? Although I have cleared minimum eligibility, but not qualified makes me very sad and I feel that I am unlucky. Please somebody help students like me.

There is confusion created by the UGC. According to the Jurisdiction only subjected to the June 2012 result there will be no 65% criteria with 40,50,50 floor marks, After that UGC removed the 15 % criteria also. But, Now UGC also update this criteria for Dec 12 with minimum 65% ...That's why it would be 65% for lectureship.

15% criteria from all the subjects is given priority. If 15% of the top students get lowest score then they will prefer 15% top most student in all the subjects.65% is the second Priority.65% marks are the criteria imposed by the UGC on June 12 result. That is Under jurisdiction but it will be applicable on Dec12 and after.

I think we must compare two equal things, only than we will be able to predict the expected cut-off for Dec 2012 results will be prepared for top 15% and not top 7%. as per my analysis i suppose the cut-off 4 commerce NET would be between 59% to 63% NOT MORE THAN THAT :)

L.S has 65 % eligibility criteria for General Category for all the subjects but There is another criteria for 15% top scorer candidates will be chosen. So, If the 15% top most scorer will get more than 65% then LS will be higher In short, L.S will depend on them.
      regards.

  60. Sir,
15% criteria mean top 15% people ie.,if 100 people applied for management then only 15 people will b selected and these 15 will be only those people who had scored 85 marks(suppose all 15 have 85 marks) then no chance for rest of the people
    OR
15% of the score like 65 to 80% marks.

Please explain which criteria ugc is applying

Yes, There is 15 % criteria. Conditions are:

Top 15% candidates (for each subject and category), from the merit list mentioned under step II, will be declared NET qualified for eligibility for lectureship only.

      Step IV:
A separate merit list for the award of JRF will be prepared from amongst the NET qualified candidates figuring in the merit list prepared under step III.

  83. Please somebody make appeal in court for opposing ugc result dec 2012. How can UGC set top 15% criteria on before two days of exam?
If they introduce new scheme means they announed when exam notified.
Otherwise they don't set any criteriea inbetween.
because candidate set their mentality to minimum criteria and prepare for exam. If they announce top 15% on before two days of exam means how can they achieve their goals..
I am SC candidate cleared all the three papers and got 47.43% in Computer Science. but my number is not there in the result list.
I feel very very very bad.because i am from very rural area and my achievement is clearing net exam. but my unlucky continued through UGC new criteria...
